About Slide Puzzle

Slide Puzzle is the classic sliding tile game. A board is shuffled with one empty gap, and you slide tiles into the gap until everything is back in order. It is easy to learn and surprisingly hard to finish in few moves.

In GameHub, you play through endless levels that take turns between numbered tiles and three pictures: a face, an animal and a spread of shapes. Boards grow from 3x3 to 4x4 to 5x5, and you get undo, hints, a move counter, a timer and star ratings.

How to play

Tap any tile in the same row or column as the empty gap. It slides toward the gap, and so does every tile between it and the gap.
In number levels, arrange the tiles in order from 1 upward, with the gap in the last spot.
In picture levels, the tiles are pieces of a drawing. Slide them until the whole picture is put back together.
Use Undo to take back a move, or a hint to highlight the next tile to tap. You get 3 hints per level.
When the board is solved you earn up to three stars, and the next level opens.

What you get

3x3, 4x4 and 5x5 boards

Levels 1 to 12 use 3x3, 13 to 32 use 4x4, and later levels use 5x5.

Numbers and pictures

Levels rotate between numbers, a face, an animal and shapes.

Undo and hints

Take back moves with Undo, and use up to 3 hints per level.

Moves, time and best

Track your moves and time, and beat your fewest moves on each level.

Star ratings

Solve in about as many moves as the shuffle took, with no hints, for 3 stars.

Saved progress

Your unfinished puzzle is remembered, so you can come back later.

Pro tips

Solve the top row first, then the next row, working down the board.
Do the last two rows column by column once the top rows are done.
Plan a few moves ahead, because sliding a whole line moves several tiles at once.
In picture levels, find the corners and edges first, then fill in the middle.
Undo as soon as a move goes wrong, and keep your hints for the larger boards.

How do you play Slide Puzzle?

What board sizes does Slide Puzzle have?

There are three board sizes. The first 12 levels use a 3x3 board, levels 13 to 32 use 4x4, and from level 33 on the board is 5x5. Later levels in each size are shuffled more.

Yes. Levels alternate between numbered tiles and picture tiles. The pictures are a face, an animal and a set of shapes, all drawn in the game, and you slide pieces until the image is complete.

Can I undo a move or get a hint?

Yes. Undo takes back your last move, and each level gives you 3 hints that highlight the next tile to tap. Using hints can lower your star rating for that level.
