How to use Video Merger

  1. Choose two or more videos such as MP4, MOV or WebM.
  2. Use the arrows to put them in order, and remove any you added by mistake.
  3. Choose MP4 or WebM and the output size. The first video sets the default size.
  4. Press Merge and download and keep the tab open while the progress bar fills.

How merging works

The tool decodes each clip frame by frame, draws the frames in one common frame size, and encodes them into a single video, one clip after another. The sound is joined the same way, converted to a common format so clips recorded differently can sit in one file.

Because everything is encoded again, the merged file is a new video. There is a small quality cost compared with copying data directly, and it takes longer than just placing the files side by side.

Tips

  • Put the clips in order before you press Merge. The numbers show the play order.
  • Use clips with the same shape, such as all landscape, to avoid black bars.
  • Choose 720p or 1080p to set a size yourself. Higher sizes take longer.
  • Keep this tab open and your device awake while merging.
  • Keep the original clips, since the merged video is a new file.

Formats and speed

MP4 with H.264 plays almost everywhere, and WebM suits the web. Speed depends on your device and the length and size of the clips. Files larger than 1 gigabyte are not accepted.

Limits

This tool joins clips one after another. It does not add transitions, trim clips, change speed or add text and music. It needs a recent browser with video encoding support, such as current Chrome, Edge or Safari, and it is built with the open source Mediabunny library.

Why use this video merger tool

  • Any order you like. Reorder clips with the arrow buttons and see each clip's length and size.
  • Clips of different sizes. Clips are fitted into one frame size without stretching, with black bars where the shapes differ.
  • Sound stays in sync. Audio from each clip is joined in order, and clips without sound are padded with silence so everything stays in step.
  • Private and no watermark. Videos are merged on your device, never uploaded, and the result has no watermark.

Frequently asked questions

How do I merge videos online for free?

Add your clips, put them in the right order with the arrows, choose a format and size, and press Merge and download. It is free, needs no account and adds no watermark.

Can I join videos with different sizes or formats?

Yes. Each clip is scaled to fit one frame size without stretching, with black bars if the shapes differ. MP4, MOV and WebM clips can be joined together, and the result is saved as MP4 or WebM.

Is my video uploaded to a server?

No. The clips are read and joined in your browser using your device, so nothing is sent to a server.

Why does merging take a long time?

The clips are decoded and encoded again to make one smooth file, which uses your device. Long or high-resolution clips take longer. A progress bar shows how far along it is, and you can cancel at any time.

Is there a limit to how many videos I can merge?

There is no fixed number, but each file must be under 1 gigabyte and the finished video has to fit in your browser's memory. For long projects, merge in smaller groups.
