Kanban Board

Organise tasks on a simple kanban board. Start with To do, Doing and Done, add your own columns, drag cards between them, and add labels, due dates and checklists. Everything is saved in this browser only: there is no account, no sync and no sharing, so export a backup now and then.

Runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded.

How to use Kanban Board

  1. Type a card title at the bottom of a column and press Enter to add it.
  2. Drag a card to another column or position, or use the Move to menu on the card if you are on a touch screen.
  3. Click a card title to add a description, a colour label, a due date and a checklist.
  4. Use Backup JSON to save a copy, and Import to restore it later or on another device.

What a kanban board is

A kanban board shows work as cards in columns that stand for stages, such as To do, Doing and Done. Moving a card across the board shows progress at a glance and makes it easy to see what is stuck.

It works for personal tasks, study plans, small projects, content calendars or household jobs. Keep columns few and card titles short.

Getting the most from it

  • Use colour labels for type or priority, then filter by label to focus.
  • Set a WIP limit on Doing to stop starting too much at once.
  • Add due dates only where they matter. Overdue cards show in red.
  • Break big cards into a checklist and watch the count on the card.
  • Use the search box to find a card by title, description or checklist text.

Your data and backups

The board is stored in this browser and never uploaded. Use Backup JSON after big changes and Import to restore. The CSV export lists every card with its column, label, due date and checklist progress for use in a spreadsheet.

Limits

This is a single-user board. It has no accounts, sync, sharing, notifications or reminders. Data lives only in this browser and can be lost if site data is cleared. Drag and drop needs a mouse or trackpad; touch users use the Move to menu. Very large boards of thousands of cards may feel slow, and imports over 8 megabytes are refused.

Why use this kanban board tool

  • Columns you control. Start with To do, Doing and Done, then add, rename, reorder or delete columns, and set an optional work-in-progress limit on any column.
  • Rich cards. Each card can have a description, one of six colour labels, a due date with an overdue style, and a checklist with a progress count.
  • Drag and drop or Move to. Drag cards with a mouse, or use the Move to menu and the up and down buttons, which also work on phones and tablets.
  • Private and exportable. The board stays in your browser. Export it as JSON to back up or move it, or as CSV for a spreadsheet.

Frequently asked questions

Is this kanban board really free with no sign up?

Yes. There is no account, no limit on cards and no paid tier. Open the page and start adding tasks. Your board is stored in your browser on this device, so nothing is created on a server.

Where is my board saved?

In your browser local storage on this device only. It is not synced or shared. Clearing site data, using a private window or switching browsers can remove it, so use Backup JSON regularly to keep a copy.

Can I share the board with my team?

No. This is a single-user board with no sync or live sharing. You can export the board as JSON and send the file, and someone else can import it, but they will get their own separate copy.

How do I move cards on a phone or tablet?

Dragging works best with a mouse. On touch screens use the Move to menu on each card to send it to another column, and open the card to move it up or down within its column.

What is a WIP limit?

A work-in-progress limit is the most cards you want in a column at once, often used on Doing. Open the column options and set a number. The count turns red when the column goes over, but cards are never blocked.

How do I back up or move my board?

Press Backup JSON to download a file with all columns and cards. Press Import and choose that file on any device to restore it. Importing replaces the current board after you confirm.
