How to use Rotate PDF
- Choose a PDF file. A thumbnail of each page appears.
- Use the left and right arrows under a page to rotate it, or the All left and All right buttons for the whole document.
- Check the previews. Rotated pages are highlighted and show their angle.
- Press Save rotated PDF to download the corrected file.
Why pages end up sideways
Rotation problems usually come from scanning. A document feeder may pull a landscape page in sideways, a phone scanning app may save the photo in the orientation the phone was held, or a batch of mixed portrait and landscape sheets may be merged into one file. Sometimes a single wrongly oriented page is buried in an otherwise correct document, and reading it means tilting your head.
Rotating the pages once and saving the result means every future reader sees them correctly, whichever device or viewer they use.
How to rotate efficiently
Look at the thumbnails first and decide whether most pages are wrong or just a few. If the whole document is sideways, use All left or All right and you are done. If only some pages are wrong, rotate those individually. Pressing a button repeatedly cycles through 90, 180, 270 and back to zero, and Reset clears every change before saving.
- Landscape page showing sideways: rotate it right or left by 90 degrees.
- Upside-down page: rotate by 180 degrees (press either arrow twice).
- Mixed document: rotate only the affected pages.
- Large files: previews are small, so even long documents stay responsive.
Things to know
The tool rewrites the file with the rotation values you chose. Pages that already had a rotation setting are adjusted from their current angle, so the result matches what you see in the preview. Encrypted or password-protected PDFs cannot be modified; remove the protection first.
Because everything runs inside your browser tab, the document is never uploaded, which makes this suitable for contracts, IDs and other private paperwork. Keep your original file until you have confirmed the saved copy looks right.
Why use this rotate pdf tool
- Per-page control. Rotate only the scanned pages that came out sideways and leave the rest untouched.
- Rotate everything at once. One click turns every page left, right or 180 degrees.
- Content stays intact. Only the page rotation setting changes, so text, images and links are not re-rendered or degraded.
- Runs locally. The file is edited in your browser and never uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
Does rotating reduce quality?
No. A PDF page has a rotation attribute that tells viewers how to display it. This tool changes that value and leaves the page content as it was, so there is no re-compression and no loss of sharpness.
Will the rotation show in every PDF viewer?
Yes. Browsers, Adobe Reader, phone viewers and print dialogs all honour the page rotation value. Some older tools ignore it when extracting content, but normal viewing and printing work as expected.
Can I rotate by a custom angle such as 15 degrees?
No. PDF page rotation only supports multiples of 90 degrees. Fixing a slightly crooked scan needs image-level deskewing, which is a different kind of tool.
