How to use Split PDF

  1. Choose your PDF.
  2. Pick a mode: page ranges, every page, or every N pages.
  3. Press Split PDF and download the files.

Why split a PDF

Large PDFs are awkward to share. A 200-page report may need to be sent chapter by chapter, a scanned stack of invoices may need to be separated per customer, and a form portal may accept only a few pages. Splitting gives you exactly the pages you need without opening a heavy editor.

Range syntax examples

  • 1-3: pages 1, 2 and 3 as one file.
  • 1-3, 5: two files: pages 1–3, and page 5.
  • 4-4: only page 4.
  • Every page: one PDF per page, zipped.
  • Every 10 pages: a 95-page PDF becomes nine 10-page files and one 5-page file.

Tips

Check the page count shown after loading the file and make sure your ranges stay inside it. If you only want to remove a few pages rather than extract some, our PDF Editor lets you delete pages and keep the rest in one document. Keep the original file until you have checked the split parts.

Splitting versus deleting pages

Splitting produces separate files and leaves the original untouched, which is ideal for sending parts to different people. If you want to keep one document but drop a few pages, use the Delete PDF Pages tool instead, which is quicker and avoids having to merge parts back together.

After splitting, open each output before sharing. Page numbers printed inside the document, links and table-of-contents entries still refer to the original numbering, so a split chapter may show page 45 as its first page.

Why use this split pdf tool

  • Three modes. Ranges like 1-3, 5, single pages, or every N pages.
  • ZIP download. Multiple results arrive as one ZIP.
  • Quality unchanged. Pages are copied, not recompressed.
  • Private. Splitting happens on your device.

Frequently asked questions

How do I extract just some pages?

Use Page ranges and enter, for example, 2-4 for pages 2 to 4. Each comma-separated range becomes its own PDF; use a single range for a single output file.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

First remove the password in a PDF viewer, then split.

Is there a page limit?

No fixed limit; very large files depend on your device’s memory.
