How to use Reorder PDF Pages
- Choose a PDF file. A numbered thumbnail appears for each page.
- Drag a page to a new position. On a touch screen, tap pages to select them, then use the Left, Right, To start and To end buttons, or tap Move selected here on the page you want them placed before.
- Use Delete, Duplicate, Reverse order or the odd/even merge as needed. Undo reverses your last change.
- Press Save PDF to download the reordered document.
When to rearrange pages
Pages end up in the wrong order for many everyday reasons: a scanner fed the sheets upside down, a report was assembled from several exports, an appendix needs to move in front of the conclusion, or two scans of the same page need to be dropped. Fixing the order in one place is faster and safer than printing, shuffling and rescanning.
Because the tool works on whole pages, it is also a quick way to delete the blank pages that scanners insert, or to repeat a page such as a signature sheet by duplicating it.
Scanning both sides of a stack
Many office scanners without a duplex feature need two passes. First scan all the front sides, then flip the stack and scan the backs. Depending on how you flip the stack, the backs arrive in reverse order. Merge the two scans into one file, check that the first half are fronts, and use the odd/even merge to interleave them.
Always check the first few and last few pages after merging. If the result looks shifted by one, undo, delete a stray cover or blank page, and try again.
- Fronts first, backs second, equal counts.
- Tick the reverse option if the stack was flipped as a whole.
- Duplicate a blank page if one back side was skipped.
Limits and privacy
The tool changes order, counts and duplicates only. It does not edit page content, remove passwords or repair damaged files. Encrypted PDFs must be unlocked first. Duplicated pages reuse the same content, so the file grows only slightly.
All processing runs in your browser. The file is read from your device, rearranged in memory and saved straight back, with no upload and no account.
Why use this reorder pdf pages tool
- Drag and drop or tap to move. Desktop users can drag one page or a whole selection. Phone and tablet users get arrow buttons and a tap-to-place option that does not rely on dragging.
- Multi-select. Click several pages, or shift-click a range, and move, duplicate or delete them together. Their relative order is kept.
- Double-sided scan helper. If you scanned a stack of sheets twice, once for the fronts and once for the backs, the merge button weaves them into the right reading order, including the common case where the back pass was scanned in reverse.
- Undo and clear numbering. Each thumbnail shows its new position and, when moved, which page it was before. Up to fifty steps can be undone.
Frequently asked questions
How does the odd and even merge work?
It assumes the first half of the pages are the fronts of your sheets and the second half are the backs. With the reverse option ticked, the backs are taken from last to first, which matches feeding the stack through the scanner a second time without re-sorting it. The result is front, back, front, back. It needs an even page count, so delete or duplicate a page first if a final back was skipped.
Does reordering change page content or quality?
No. Pages are copied as they are, including text, images, links inside the page and rotation. Document-level features such as bookmarks and form field links that point to other pages may not survive a reorder, and are best rebuilt afterwards if you rely on them.
Is there a page limit?
There is no fixed limit. Thumbnails are drawn only as they scroll into view, so long documents stay responsive, but very large files use more memory and take longer to save.
