How to use Fancy Text Generator
- Type or paste your text in the box.
- Scroll through the list of styles. Each row shows your text in that style.
- Press Copy next to the style you want.
- Paste it into your profile, post, chat or document.
What the styles are
Unicode contains blocks of letters designed for mathematics, such as bold, italic, script, fraktur and monospace sets. This tool maps each plain letter to the matching character in those sets. Other styles use circled letters, squared letters, fullwidth forms and small capital letters.
Strikethrough, underline and overline are made by adding a combining character after each letter, so the line is part of the text itself.
Good uses
- Social media names and bios, where you cannot choose a font.
- Headings and emphasis in plain-text messages.
- Playful captions, game names and stickers.
- Quick bold or italic text in apps that have no formatting buttons.
Things to watch for
Search engines and filters may not treat styled letters as the same word as plain letters, so a name written in fancy text may be harder to find. Long passages are also harder to read. Use these styles for short pieces of text.
Limits
These are special Unicode characters, not fonts, so some apps, websites and screen readers may not display or read them correctly. Only the letters A to Z and, for some styles, digits are converted. Text is limited to 2,000 characters. Conversion happens in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
Why use this fancy text generator tool
- About 25 styles. Bold, italic, script, fraktur, double-struck, monospace, sans-serif, bubble, squared, small caps, wide, upside down, strikethrough, underline and more.
- Works anywhere you can paste. The results are ordinary Unicode characters, so they can be pasted into most apps, bios and chat boxes without installing a font.
- Correct letters. Letters that sit in the symbols part of Unicode, such as the script h or the double-struck R, are mapped to the right characters, so there are no empty boxes in the middle of words.
- Private. Your text is converted in your browser and is never sent to a server.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get fancy text for Instagram or other bios?
Type your text, press Copy beside the style you like, then paste it into your bio, caption or name field. The styles are made from Unicode characters, so they usually work wherever you can paste text. Some apps limit which characters they accept.
Are these real fonts?
No. They are special Unicode characters that look like styled letters, such as mathematical bold or script letters. Because they are characters and not a font, they keep their look when pasted, but each app decides whether it can display them.
Why do some letters show as empty boxes?
The app or device you paste into may not have a font that contains those characters. Try another style, or test the text in the place you plan to use it. Newer phones and computers handle most of these styles well.
Do screen readers read fancy text?
Often not well. A screen reader may read each styled letter by its Unicode name, or skip it. For anything important, such as names, links and instructions, use plain text and keep fancy styles for decoration. It is also worth testing in the app you plan to use.
Does fancy text work with numbers and other languages?
Digits work in bold, double-struck, sans-serif, monospace, bubble and wide styles. Letters outside the English alphabet and symbols are left as they are, because these style sets only cover A to Z. Accented letters and other scripts will not change, so mixed text may look uneven in some styles.
