How to use Emoji Picker (Copy and Paste)

  1. Type a word such as heart, cat or party in the search box, or choose a category.
  2. Click an emoji. It is copied and added to your message box.
  3. Add more emojis, or type your own text in the box.
  4. Press Copy all and paste the message where you need it.

Finding emojis

Search matches the emoji name and a few related words. Searching for love shows hearts and kisses, and searching for food shows meals, fruit and drinks. Use the category buttons to browse when you are not sure of the word. Everything is listed in groups such as smileys, animals, food, travel, activities, objects and symbols.

Building a message

  • Every click adds the emoji to the end of the message box.
  • You can also type text or edit the box directly.
  • Copy all copies the whole message, and Clear empties it.

Using emojis well

Emojis can be shown differently by different apps, and screen readers read them by name. Use a few at a time, and avoid putting key information only in an emoji.

Limits

The picker contains a selection of common emojis, not every emoji, and it does not include flags or skin tone variants. Copying uses the browser clipboard, which some browsers block outside a secure page; the emoji is still added to the message box. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

Why use this emoji picker (copy and paste) tool

  • Search by name or keyword. Each emoji has a name and related words, so searching for happy, food or money finds the right ones.
  • Click to copy. One click copies the emoji and adds it to your message box so you can build a short message.
  • Recently used. The emojis you pick most recently are saved in this browser for quick reuse.
  • Widely supported emojis. The set sticks to emojis from older Unicode versions, which show correctly on most phones and computers.

Frequently asked questions

How do I copy and paste an emoji?

Click the emoji in the grid. It is copied to your clipboard and added to the message box. Then paste it with Ctrl+V on Windows and Linux, or Command+V on a Mac, into any app or website that accepts text. It works the same way on phones and tablets, where you can long-press the message box to paste.

How do I type emojis on a computer?

You can use this picker and paste the emoji, or use the built-in keyboard on your system: Windows key plus period on Windows, or Control+Command+Space on a Mac. This page works the same in any browser.

Why does an emoji look different on another device?

Each platform draws its own artwork for emojis, so the same emoji can look slightly different on Apple, Google, Samsung and Windows devices. The meaning stays the same because it is the same Unicode character. Small differences in style are normal and are not a fault with the emoji you copied.

Where are my recently used emojis stored?

In your own browser, on this device only. They are not sent anywhere. Clearing your site data or using the Clear button next to the recent list removes them. Nothing about your choices is shared with anyone or used for tracking in any way.

Why is an emoji I know missing?

This picker lists a few hundred common emojis that display widely, not the full set. Very new emojis are left out because older devices show them as empty boxes. Try a related search word to find something close. You can also copy any emoji from another source and paste it into the message box, since the box accepts any text.
