How to convert JPG to PDF: many images, one file

Forms and portals often want one PDF, but what you have is a folder of photos or phone scans. Converting them takes a minute, and a few choices about order, page size and file size decide whether the result is easy to read and easy to upload.

The short answer

Add your images, put them in the order you want the pages to appear, choose a page size and create the PDF. Each image becomes one page. If the PDF is too large afterwards, compress it.

Check the order before you create the PDF. Re-ordering a finished PDF is an extra step.

Step by step

  1. Open the JPG to PDF tool and add your images. You can add several at once.
  2. Arrange the images with the arrow buttons so pages run in the right order.
  3. Choose a page size: A4, US Letter, or the exact size of each image.
  4. Set a margin if you want white space around each picture.
  5. Press Create PDF and download the file.

Which page size should you pick?

Landscape images get landscape pages automatically, so wide photos are not squeezed into a portrait page.

OptionBest for
A4Documents that will be printed or submitted in most countries outside North America
US LetterDocuments for the United States and Canada
Same size as the imagePhotos or screenshots you want to keep exactly as they are, with no white borders

Make the PDF readable

  • Photograph documents flat, in even light, from directly above.
  • Rotate sideways photos before converting so every page opens upright.
  • Crop away the table and background so text fills the page.
  • Use the same orientation for every page when you can.

Keep the file small enough to upload

Many forms limit attachments to a few megabytes. Phone photos are large, so a ten-page PDF can quickly pass that limit. Reduce the size of the images first, or compress the finished PDF. Do this before you worry about quality: a slightly smaller scan that uploads is better than a perfect one that is rejected.

Is it private?

The PDF is built in your browser, so your photos are not uploaded to a server. This matters for IDs, bank statements and signed forms.
