How to use Online Photo Editor

  1. Choose a photo or drop it on the page. JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and AVIF files work.
  2. Pick a filter, or open Adjust and Effects and move the sliders. Hold the Hold to compare button to see the original.
  3. Use Rotate to turn, flip or straighten the photo, and Crop to cut it to a shape such as 1:1, 4:3 or 16:9.
  4. Choose JPG, PNG or WebP, set the quality and size, check the output pixel size and press Download photo.

How the editing works

The editor keeps your original photo in memory and shows a reduced copy, up to 1200 pixels on the long side, while you work. Each adjustment is calculated pixel by pixel with plain arithmetic, so the result looks the same in every browser.

When you download, the same steps are applied to the full-size photo. Rotating, flipping, straightening and cropping are applied first, then exposure, brightness, contrast, colour, blur, sharpening and the vignette.

What each control does

  • Brightness lightens or darkens everything, while Exposure and Gamma change the highlights and midtones.
  • Contrast widens or narrows the gap between light and dark. Saturation changes colour strength.
  • Warmth moves the colour toward orange or blue. Tint moves it toward magenta or green.
  • Sharpen adds edge detail. Blur softens the picture. Vignette darkens the corners.
  • Black and white amount and Sepia amount mix toward a mono or brown tone instead of switching all at once.

Tips for better results

  • Fix the crop and angle first, then adjust light, then colour.
  • Make small changes. Strong sliders can bring out noise or flatten detail.
  • Use Hold to compare often so you do not over-edit.
  • Choose JPG at 85 to 92 percent for photos, PNG for graphics or screenshots, and WebP for smaller web images.
  • Keep your original file. The edited photo is saved as a new file.

Limits

Photos up to 40 megapixels can be opened. Everything is processed in your browser, and nothing is uploaded, so very large photos on older phones may run out of memory; use a smaller output size if that happens. Sharpen uses a simple 3 by 3 filter, so its effect looks a little softer on very large photos. This is a quick editor and does not offer layers, text, brushes, red-eye removal or selective edits. Edits are not saved if you close the page, so download your result first.

Why use this online photo editor tool

  • Instant sliders. Sliders work on a reduced preview so they respond straight away. The download is processed at full resolution so you keep the detail.
  • Filters and fine controls. Eight one-tap filters with live thumbnails, plus brightness, contrast, exposure, gamma, saturation, warmth, tint, sharpen, blur, vignette, black and white and sepia.
  • Rotate, straighten and crop. Turn by 90 degrees, flip, straighten up to 15 degrees either way, and crop with a draggable box and common shapes.
  • Undo, compare and no watermark. Every step is kept in a history you can undo, redo or jump back through. The photo is never uploaded and the result has no watermark.

Frequently asked questions

How do I edit a photo online for free?

Choose your photo, pick a filter or move the Adjust sliders, rotate or crop if needed, then choose a format and press Download photo. It is free, needs no account or sign-up, and adds no watermark to the result. Your edits stay on your device the whole time.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. The photo is opened and edited inside your browser using your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, so private photos stay on your device and the editor keeps working even if your connection drops after the page has loaded.

How do I change brightness and contrast of a photo?

Open the Adjust tab and move the Brightness and Contrast sliders. The preview updates as you drag. Use Hold to compare to check the original, and double-click a slider to put it back to zero. Undo reverses any step, so you can experiment freely.

Will editing reduce my photo quality?

The preview is smaller so sliders stay fast, but the download is processed from your original full-size photo. PNG is lossless. JPG and WebP use the quality slider you choose, and a higher value keeps more detail but gives a bigger file.

How do I straighten a crooked horizon?

Open Rotate and move the Straighten slider a little at a time until the horizon looks level. The tool zooms in slightly so no empty corners appear. You can straighten by up to 15 degrees in either direction, then crop if you wish. Small steps usually look more natural.

What is the largest photo I can edit?

Photos up to 40 megapixels can be opened, which covers most phone and camera pictures. Very large photos need more memory, so if download fails, choose a smaller output size such as 50 percent and try again. Closing other tabs can also free memory.
