GLB Viewer

Open a GLB or GLTF 3D model and look at it from every angle. Rotate, zoom, switch to wireframe, play built-in animations, check the triangle count and save a screenshot. The file is opened in your browser and is never uploaded.

How to use GLB Viewer

  1. Drop a .glb file onto the page, or press Choose a GLB or GLTF file. For a .gltf file, select it together with its .bin and texture files.
  2. Drag to rotate the model, scroll or pinch to zoom, and right-drag or two-finger drag to pan.
  3. Use the options to change the background, show the wireframe, hide the grid, turn on auto-rotate or pick an animation.
  4. Read the file details such as triangles, materials and textures, then press Save PNG screenshot if you want an image.

What GLB and GLTF files are

glTF is an open standard for delivering 3D models, often described as the JPEG of 3D. It is widely used for the web, augmented reality and game assets. A model can contain meshes, materials, textures, animations and a scene layout.

The format comes in two forms. GLB is a single binary file that holds everything, which makes it easy to share. GLTF is a JSON file that references a separate .bin file for geometry and separate image files for textures, which is easier to edit by hand but easier to break when files get separated.

Reading the numbers in the info panel

The triangle and vertex counts tell you how heavy the geometry is. A model with a very high triangle count can be slow on phones and in web pages, so artists often reduce it before publishing. The materials and textures counts show how many surface definitions and images the model uses; many large textures are the usual reason a file is big.

The size in units shows the width, height and depth of the model as stored in the file. glTF uses metres as its unit, so a value of 1 means one metre. Use wireframe to check how the surface is divided into triangles, and the animation list to confirm that built-in motion plays.

Common problems and tips

  • If the model is black or very dark, try a different background. Some models rely on lighting that a basic preview cannot reproduce exactly.
  • If a .gltf shows no textures, select the .gltf, the .bin and all image files together.
  • Very large models can load slowly on older phones. Try a desktop browser for files in the hundreds of megabytes.
  • This viewer shows what the file contains. It cannot repair a damaged file or convert other 3D formats.
  • Appearance can differ a little between viewers because lighting and tone settings vary. Always test in the engine or site where the model will be used.

Privacy

The model is read by your browser and drawn with your device. Nothing is uploaded, which is useful for client work, unreleased products and scans of people or places. Closing the tab removes the model from memory.

Why use this glb viewer tool

  • Opens GLB and GLTF. Single-file .glb models open directly. A .gltf model opens when you select it together with its .bin and texture files.
  • Compressed models supported. Models compressed with Draco or Meshopt open too, so files exported with size optimisation still work.
  • Inspect the model. See triangles, vertices, meshes, materials, textures, animations and overall size, and switch to wireframe to check the mesh.
  • Private by design. The model is read and drawn inside your browser tab. No file is uploaded to a server.

Frequently asked questions

How do I open a GLB file?

Drop the .glb file onto this page or press Choose a GLB or GLTF file. The model appears in the viewer, where you can drag to rotate and scroll or pinch to zoom. No account or software is needed, and the file stays on your device.

What is the difference between GLB and GLTF?

Both are formats of glTF, a standard for 3D models. A .glb file packs the geometry, materials and textures into one binary file. A .gltf file is a text description that points to separate .bin and image files, so you must keep those files together. To open a .gltf here, select the .gltf and its extra files at the same time.

Why does my GLTF model look grey or missing textures?

A .gltf file refers to textures by file name. If you open only the .gltf, the viewer cannot find them. Select the .gltf, the .bin file and every image file in one go so the names can be matched.

Can I open OBJ, FBX or STL files?

No. This viewer only opens GLB and GLTF files. Convert other formats to GLB in a 3D program such as Blender first, then open the result here.

Is my 3D model uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is opened and drawn in your browser using your device. Nothing is sent to a server, so private or unreleased models stay on your device.
