Signature Maker

Make a clean image of your signature in a minute. Draw it with your mouse, finger or pen, type your name in a handwriting style, or upload a photo of your signature on paper. Download a tightly cropped transparent PNG, or an SVG for drawn signatures. It runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

How to use Signature Maker

  1. Choose Draw, Type or Upload. Draw with a mouse, finger or pen, type your name and pick a style, or add a photo of your signature on white paper.
  2. Pick the ink colour. For a drawing, set the pen thickness. For a photo, move the background slider until the paper disappears.
  3. Check the preview over the checkerboard, then choose a size and the padding around the signature.
  4. Press Download PNG for a transparent image, Copy image to paste it into a document, or Download SVG for a drawn signature.

Which method gives the best result

Drawing gives the most personal result, especially on a touch screen or with a stylus, where it looks closest to your real handwriting. A mouse works but is less steady, so draw slowly and use Undo until you like it.

Uploading a photo keeps your genuine signature exactly, which some people prefer for letters and forms. The Type option is quickest when you only need a neat, readable name.

Getting a clean photo signature

A little care when photographing makes the background removal almost perfect.

  • Sign with a dark pen on plain white paper with no lines.
  • Use even daylight and avoid shadows across the page.
  • Hold the camera straight above the paper and fill the frame with the signature.
  • Raise the slider to keep thin strokes, or lower it to remove grey paper.
  • Turn on Boost contrast when the pen is light or the photo is dim.

Choosing size and padding

Small fits the signature in a box about 400 pixels wide, medium 800 and large 1600 (a very tall signature ends up narrower). Large is best for printing or for placing on a big page, and small keeps files light for web forms. The signature is cropped tightly to the ink, and the padding option adds a little clear space around it.

Use the SVG download from the Draw tab when you need an image that can be resized without blurring. Many online forms accept only PNG or JPG, so keep the PNG as well.

Limits

This tool makes an image of a signature. It does not create a certified digital signature, and it does not lock or prove who signed a document. Acceptance depends on the document and the country. All work happens in your browser and nothing is uploaded. Copying to the clipboard is not supported in every browser, so use the download instead. Typed styles depend on fonts installed on your device, and SVG export is available only for drawn signatures.

Why use this signature maker tool

  • Three ways to make it. Draw it by hand, type your name in a handwriting style, or turn a photo of your real signature into a clean image.
  • Natural pen strokes. Drawn lines get thinner when you move fast and thicker when you slow down. A pen or stylus also responds to pressure.
  • Transparent and tightly cropped. The PNG has no white box. It is cropped to the ink with the padding you choose, in small, medium or large size.
  • PNG, SVG or copy. Download a PNG, copy the image to paste it elsewhere, or download an SVG of a drawn signature that stays sharp at any size.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a transparent signature PNG for free?

Draw your signature in the Draw tab, or upload a photo of it on white paper and use the background slider. The preview shows a checkerboard where the image is transparent. Press Download PNG. There is no sign-up and no watermark is added.

Is my signature uploaded to a server?

No. Drawing, typing and photo clean-up all happen in your browser, and the image never leaves your device. If you upload a photo, it is read by your browser only. Closing the page discards the work, and there is no account to create.

Is this a legally valid digital signature?

It makes an image of a signature, which is an electronic signature image. It is not a certified digital signature with a certificate. Whether an image is accepted depends on the document, the organisation and the country, so check with whoever asks you to sign.

How do I turn a photo of my signature into a PNG?

Sign on plain white paper with a dark pen in good light, and photograph it straight on. Upload it in the Upload tab and move the Remove background slider until the paper becomes transparent. Turn on Boost contrast if the pen is faint.

Why do the typed signature styles look different on my phone and computer?

The Type tab uses handwriting fonts that are already installed on your device, because web fonts would need a download. Windows, Mac, Android and iPhone include different fonts, so the letterforms vary a little. The preview shows what your device will produce.

How do I add my signature to a PDF?

Make the signature here and download the PNG. Then open the Sign PDF tool on this site, load your PDF and place the signature where you need it. Both tools work in your browser and neither uploads your files.
