How the conversion works
The tool uses a simple, documented model. US and UK sizes step one third of an inch, about 0.85 cm of foot length, per full size. EU sizes use Paris points, two thirds of a centimetre each, based on foot length plus a small toe allowance. Japan sizes equal the foot length.
Your size is first turned into foot length, and then foot length is turned into every other system.
Typical offsets
- UK men size is about US men size minus 1.
- US women size is about US men size plus 1.5.
- UK women size is about US women size minus 2.
- Kids sizes run from 1C to 13C and then restart at 1Y.
Getting a good fit
Try shoes on at the end of the day, with the socks you will wear, and leave about a thumb width of space in front of your longest toe. If you are between sizes, choose the larger one for running and walking shoes.
Limits
Results are approximate, and real size charts vary by brand, style and country. Kids sizes are typical values and children feet change quickly. The conversion runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert US shoe size to EU?
Choose men or women, select US, and enter your size. The EU size appears straight away. For example, a men US 9 is about EU 42 to 43 depending on the chart. Brands differ, so check their own chart before you buy.
What is the difference between men and women shoe sizes?
In US sizing, a women size is usually 1.5 higher than the men size for the same foot length. A men US 7 is about a women US 8.5. UK sizing differs by a different amount, so use the right group in the converter.
How do I measure my foot length in cm?
Stand on a sheet of paper with your heel against a wall, mark the tip of your longest toe, and measure from the wall to the mark. Do it in the evening when feet are largest, and measure both feet and use the larger one.
Why does my size differ between brands?
Brands use their own lasts and rounding, so the same number can fit differently. Many charts also differ by half a size or more. Treat this converter as a guide, and use the size chart on the brand page when it is available.
What is the Japan shoe size?
Japanese shoe sizes are the foot length in centimetres, for example 26.0 or 26.5. That makes them the easiest system to use if you know your foot length. The converter shows it in centimetres and millimetres.
