Frequently asked questions
How is EMI calculated?
EMI = P × r × (1 + r)^n ÷ ((1 + r)^n − 1), where P is the loan amount, r the monthly interest rate and n the number of monthly instalments. The calculators do this for you and show the total interest.
Does a longer tenure save money?
It lowers the monthly EMI but increases the total interest you pay. Compare tenures with the loan comparison calculator.
What is the difference between flat and reducing interest?
Flat interest is charged on the original amount for the whole term. Reducing interest is charged on the outstanding balance, so the same stated rate costs less. The flat vs reducing calculator shows the real difference.
Do these calculators upload my data?
No. The calculations run in your browser.
