Dialogue
VikramRahul, have you thought about which stream you want after tenth?
RahulI'm torn between Science and Commerce, Papa.
School counsellorWhat subjects do you enjoy the most right now?
RahulI really like Maths and Physics.
School counsellorThen Science with Maths could be a great fit for you.
RahulThat makes sense. I feel more confident about my decision now.
VikramGood. But remember, the entrance exams for Science can be quite tough.
School counsellorThat's true, so it's important to build a strong routine from the start.
RahulI'll also need to pick an elective alongside Physics, Chemistry, and Maths, right?
School counsellorYes, and Computer Science would suit your interests well.
Common mistakes
- Saying "I am taking Science stream" without an article — the natural form is "I am taking the Science stream" or simply "I'm taking Science."
- Saying "I choosed Commerce" instead of "I chose Commerce" (the correct past tense of "choose" is "chose," not "choosed").
- Saying "Which combination you took?" instead of "Which combination did you take?" (use "did" to form the question correctly).
- Saying "I am having interest in Science" instead of "I am interested in Science" (use the adjective "interested," not the verb "having interest").
- Saying "He is more intelligent than me in Maths" instead of "He is better than me at Maths" (use "good/better at" for skills, not "intelligent").
- Saying "I will give my entrance exam" instead of "I will take/sit my entrance exam" (Indian English often uses "give," but standard English uses "take" or "sit").
