Dialogue
Coaching teacherRahul, your score in this mock test has improved a lot.
RahulThank you, sir. I've been revising every day after school.
Coaching teacherThat's great. Just make sure you don't overdo it and get burnt out.
RahulI'll try to balance it better, sir.
Coaching teacherCome to the doubt-clearing session tomorrow if you're stuck anywhere.
RahulI will, sir. Thank you for your guidance.
Coaching teacherAlso, I noticed organic chemistry is still a weak area for you.
RahulYes, sir. Could you suggest a shortcut method for the reaction problems?
Coaching teacherOf course. Join the study group after class and I'll go through it with all of you.
RahulThat would really help, sir. I'll be there.
Common mistakes
- Saying "I am going tuition" instead of "I am going to tuition" or "I am going to coaching classes" (don't drop "to").
- Saying "My rank came good" instead of "I got a good rank" (use "get," not "come," with "rank").
- Saying "I did revision of syllabus" instead of "I revised the syllabus" (use the verb "revise" directly).
- Saying "I am studying in a batch" instead of "I am in a batch" or "I attend a batch" (a batch is a group you belong to, not something you study inside).
- Saying "Cutoff is very high this year" without an article — say "The cutoff is very high this year."
- Saying "I have weakness in chemistry" instead of "Chemistry is my weak area" or "I am weak in chemistry."
