About Bhagat Singh Jayanti
Bhagat Singh was an Indian revolutionary and one of the most celebrated martyrs of the freedom struggle. He was born in 1907 in the village of Banga in Punjab (now in Pakistan), and his birth anniversary is widely observed on September 28. Inspired by the Indian independence movement and by revolutionary ideas, he became a leading figure of the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association.
He was hanged on March 23, 1931 in Lahore, along with Rajguru and Sukhdev, at the age of 23, which is remembered as Shaheed Diwas. His slogan “Inquilab Zindabad” (Long live the revolution) became a rallying cry across the country.
