How to use Age Calculator
- Enter the date of birth.
- Leave “Age at date” as today, or choose another date.
- Read your age and the extra statistics.
Why exact age matters
Forms for school admission, exams, driving licences, insurance, pensions and sports categories often use an exact age or a cut-off date. Being one day short can change eligibility. Choosing a specific “age at” date lets you check, for example, how old a child will be on 1 June.
What you can learn
- Total days lived, a fun number: someone aged 30 has lived about 10,950 days.
- The weekday you were born.
- Days remaining until your next birthday.
- Age on a future or past date, such as on a job application deadline.
How month and day borrowing works
If the day of the month is earlier than the birth day, a month is borrowed. For example, from 31 January to 1 March, the calculation takes the number of days in the previous month. Different calculators can disagree by a day around month ends because there is no single universal convention; this tool uses the common calendar-based method.
Age in different cultures
Most of the world counts age as completed years since birth, which is what this calculator shows. Some East Asian traditions count a newborn as one year old and add a year at the lunar new year, giving a different number. For legal documents, always follow the counting method the issuing authority specifies.
If you need to know someone’s age on a specific deadline, such as the first day of a school year or an exam, set the “age at” date to that day. The result updates immediately and handles leap years correctly.
Why use this age calculator tool
- Exact age. Years, months and days, handling month lengths correctly.
- Age on any date. Useful for eligibility cut-offs.
- Birthday countdown. Days until your next birthday.
Frequently asked questions
How is age calculated?
We subtract the birth date from the target date year by year, then month by month, borrowing days from the previous month when needed, which is how everyday age is counted.
What about leap-day births?
People born on 29 February have a birthday in non-leap years on 1 March in this calculator’s countdown.
Is my date of birth stored?
No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing is saved or sent.
