Common mistakes
- Saying "I did FD" instead of "I opened a fixed deposit" (use "open," the standard banking verb).
- Saying "Money is matured" instead of "The deposit has matured" or "The deposit reached maturity."
- Saying "I want to break FD" casually instead of "I would like to make a premature withdrawal" in formal banking contexts.
- Saying "Interest is coming" instead of "Interest is earned" or "Interest accrues" (avoid the literal Hindi-influenced phrasing).
- Saying "Give me deposit certificate" instead of "Please give me the deposit certificate" (don't drop the article "the").
- Saying "How much percent interest" instead of "What is the interest rate" or "How much interest, in percent" (avoid the awkward direct translation).
