Common mistakes
- Saying "I am dying now" bluntly instead of the gentler, more common phrase "I am at peace" or "My time is near" in emotional contexts.
- Saying "Grieve for him" as the only way to express sadness — also consider "We will miss him deeply" or "We will always remember him."
- Saying "Give blessing to us" instead of "Give us your blessing" (correct word order with the indirect object first).
- Saying "I ask forgiveness to you" instead of "I ask forgiveness from you" (use "from," not "to," with forgiveness).
- Saying "I feel very tender" to describe one's own feelings instead of "I feel touched" or "I feel moved" — "tender" describes gentle care shown to someone else, not one's own emotion.
- Saying "Say final farewell to him" instead of "Say a final farewell to him" (don't drop the article "a").
