Dialogue
RahulSomething smells off in the fridge.
RahulOh, it's the dal — it's turned sour.
RahulThe roti from yesterday has gone completely stale too.
RahulI'll throw both of these away; they're not edible anymore.
RahulLet me check today's rice before I eat it.
RahulHmm, this is still undercooked in the middle.
RahulI'll need to redo it and give it a proper boil.
RahulNext time I should refrigerate the dal sooner.
RahulI really don't want to waste food like this again.
RahulBetter safe than risking food poisoning.
Common mistakes
- Saying "the food is bad" instead of "the food has gone bad" or "the food has spoiled" (use the correct verb form for the change).
- Saying "dal is sour taste" instead of "the dal tastes sour" or "the dal has turned sour" (use the correct sentence structure).
- Saying "rice is raw" for lightly undercooked rice instead of "the rice is undercooked" ("raw" usually means completely uncooked, "undercooked" means not cooked enough).
- Saying "roti became hard" instead of "the roti has gone hard" or "the roti has gone stale" (use "gone" with these describing words).
- Saying "throw the food" instead of "throw away the food" (don't drop "away" — "throw" alone means something different).
- Saying "I will cook again" instead of "I will redo it" or "I need to cook it again properly" when a dish came out wrong (be specific about redoing, not just repeating).
