Common mistakes
- Saying "I got selection in college" instead of "I got admission to college" or "I was selected for college."
- Saying "I am staying in hostel" without an article — the natural form is "I am staying in the hostel" or "I am staying in a hostel."
- Saying "My cut-off is good" instead of "My score is above the cut-off" (cut-off is the required minimum, not the student's own score).
- Saying "I filled application" instead of "I filled out the application form" (don't drop "out" and "form").
- Saying "My name is in waiting list" instead of "My name is on the waitlist" (use "on," not "in," with lists).
- Saying "I did document verification" instead of "I completed document verification" or "My documents were verified."
